What is Cabin Match?
Cabin Match is a community bulletin board for connecting people who have cabins or long-term housing with people looking for a place to live in the Fairbanks area. It’s designed to make information easier to find and share — not to act as a broker or placement service.
How is Cabin Match funded?
Cabin Match is a volunteer-run community resource.
If you’d like to support basic maintenance, hosting costs, and ongoing upkeep, you can donate as little as $1/month through our Patreon here:

Donations are optional and help keep this resource accessible to the community.
Why use Cabin Match instead of Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace?
Cabin Match exists to support long-term housing connections in the Fairbanks area that often don’t show up on large platforms.
Many cabins and long-term rentals are shared through word of mouth or posted on local bulletin boards scattered across town. Those methods work, but they can be hard to access if you don’t already know the right people or places to look.
Cabin Match brings those informal, local listings into one place while keeping the process simple and community-based. It’s designed specifically for longer-term housing, not short-term rentals, quick sales, or high-turnover listings.
By focusing on local context and long-term housing, Cabin Match aims to increase access, reduce information gaps, and make it easier for people to find housing without relying solely on social networks or constantly monitoring multiple platforms.
How does sharing listings work?
Cabin Match does not “match” people behind the scenes. Listings are shared, and interested parties contact each other directly using the information provided.
Listings are shared in two ways:
• Cabin Seekers (Tenants):
People looking for housing can upload a simple flyer with general information, preferences, and a preferred contact method. Email is encouraged. Please use caution when sharing personal contact information. Optional tools like app-based messaging or voice calls (such as Discord) can help people connect without sharing phone numbers.
• Cabin Listings (Housing Offered):
People offering housing can upload a flyer with basic details such as photos, cost, lease term, and contact information.
Listings are stored in shared Google Drive folders. This helps reduce spam while keeping the platform low-barrier. Access currently requires a Google account.
A simple online submission form (JotForm) is in development to make posting easier without needing direct folder access.
Optional communication tools (such as Discord) may be available in the future for messaging or app-based voice calls. Participation is optional and intended to support respectful, low-pressure communication.
Does Cabin Match screen listings or applicants?
No. Cabin Match does not conduct background checks, income verification, reference checks, or screenings of any kind. Users are responsible for doing their own due diligence and deciding what feels safe and appropriate for them.
Is Cabin Match a housing provider or landlord?
No. Cabin Match does not own, manage, or rent housing. All housing arrangements are made directly between the people involved.
Is Cabin Match responsible for housing outcomes or disputes?
No. Cabin Match is not responsible for agreements, payments, conflicts, damages, or outcomes that arise from connections made through the site. Any agreements are strictly between the individuals involved.
What kinds of housing are appropriate to list here?
Cabin Match is intended for longer-term housing, such as cabins, dry cabins, small rentals, or shared living arrangements. Short-term vacation rentals or nightly stays are not the focus of this platform.
Is there anything I should keep in mind for safety?
Yes. As with any housing search, it’s important to use good judgment. Meet in public when possible, ask questions, verify details, and trust your instincts. Cabin Match encourages clear communication and mutual respect, but cannot guarantee safety or outcomes.
Who is Cabin Match for?
Cabin Match is for people who value clear communication, transparency, and community-based solutions to housing access. It works best when expectations are shared openly on both sides.
Is Cabin Match emergency housing or a shelter resource?
No. Cabin Match is not an emergency housing service and cannot provide immediate placement, crisis housing, or shelter referrals. It is intended for longer-term housing connections.
Does Cabin Match charge a fee?
No. Cabin Match is free to use. There is no fee to post a listing or inquire about housing.
